Janakpurdham, the kingdom of King Janak is one of the historical and religious cities of Nepal. It lies in the east southern of Nepal nearby Indian boarder. Everyday thousands of people visit this place for darshan of Janaki Temple, Vibaha Mandap, Ganga Sagar, Dhanush Sagar and Dhanushadham. Janaki Temple dedicated to Goddess Sita is located at the heart of Janankpur. It is an example of ‘Hindu-Rajput’ architecture. This is considered as the most important model of the Rajput architecture in Nepal built by Queen Brisabhanu Kunwari of Tikamgarh from centra India in 1898 AD at a cost of rupees 900000. Therefore In local parlance, the temple is also called Nau Lakha Mandir or Temple of Nine Lakh Rupees. . The Vivah Mandap temple where Lord Rama and Sita are said to have been married is situated next to the Janki Mandir. The two most important, Dhanush Sagar and Ganga Sagar, are located close to the city centre. The another important site Dhanushadam where Ram string the bow of Lord Shiva is 20 km ahead of Janaki Temple.
